Welcome to the Kings
Mountain Fire Department Web Page!
Kings Mountain is located
on Highway 74 and Interstate 85, west of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Kings Mountain is a growing town of over 10,000 people in 11 square
miles. The fire
department prides itself on being dedicated to the community it serves.
We have a staff of 14 full and part time personnel and 25 volunteers and
have an average of over 450 calls per year, with most of those being
incidental calls. I have been with the department since 1974 and am
proud to be associated with the dedicated men and women that we have on
staff. Most of our members have numerous certifications.
We currently offer such
services as free smoke detectors, educational classes, training for
industries, a confined space entry team, tours of the fire house, and
tours of our fire museum. We also host a Kansas City Barbecue Society
(KCBS) BBQ cookoff each year in April. This event brings in cooking
teams from all over the US.
We have a Mayor, City
Council and City Manager which governs us, and thanks to the support of
our city government we are a progressive department and are currently
working on adding more full time personnel.
Thanks for visiting our web page! If you are in North Carolina around the
Kings Mountain area, please stop by and meet our staff and tour our
equipment! We also have a very large patch collection, and will gladly
swap patches with your department. Just send it to:
