How to Acquire a Card
Library cards are free if you live, own property or work in the City of Kings Mountain or Cleveland County. To obtain an out of county or state library card there is a small annual fee. You may use any library in the county. As an added benefit, residents of the City of Kings Mountain are eligible for a Gaston County Public Library card; ask for more information at any Gaston County library.
A library card will be issued upon verification of your photo identification and current mailing address. Parents or guardians may show their identification in lieu of identification for children. Annually, the library will verify your address, telephone number and email to maintain accurate records.
A card holder is responsible for all materials checked out on his or her library card. Parents are responsible for materials checked out by their children. A card must be presented for checkout.
Most materials circulate for three weeks, DVD’s one week. New books circulate for two weeks.
You may renew library material if there are no holds pending and you have not exceeded the maximum number of renewals. You may renew at home using this website.
